The rediscovery of the original manuscripts of Max Regers works for violin, viola and violoncello op. 131ad in the Prague Conservatory Library represents a small sensation. These late works for solo strings, the last of which only appeared posthumously, were previously only known from their first prints. The Preludes and Fugues op. 131a for violin were written in the spring of 1914 during Regers convalescent stay in Merano.
