This collection presents 15 original piano duets (four hands at one instrument), conceived for beginners of all ages. The character miniatures develop sightreading skills in an accessible and musically engaging way, whilst introducing ensemble playing.
The first part moves in unison throughout, with the five-finger positions changing from piece to piece. Therefore students initially only need to read one musical line, and can concentrate fully on listening, coordination, and musical expression. The rhythmic complexity increases gradually over the course of the edition. The Secondo part provides harmonic richness and rhythmic support, creating a full and resonant sound as well as providing a particularly motivating ensemble experience for students. The length of the pieces and the layout are designed so that musical enjoyment and concentration are not disrupted by inconvenient page turns.
The varied pieces allow students to begin making music together straight away and are equally suitable for lessons, informal performances at home, and first concert experiences.
